About the Exhibition

Nature with lights makes a new experiential

In this summer, art plaza will be held the solo exhibition of Yuki ANAI who was born in Oita. He inspired by nature to creates an installation using lights, sound, and sensors.

In recent years, he directed the Christmas Lighting in front of Oita station that called “Oita Light Fantasy”. And, he was invited from the Latvian council to celebrate sentinel year on Latvia. In addition he also invited from Ars Electronica that is one of the most famous media art festival.

In this exhibition is able to experience a lot of new sensation of nature through digital art. We will be planning to special new artwork that collaborates with some artist based in Oita. One is Naoto Kitamura who is a famous painter. Another one is Olectronica that is a sculpture artist. Each work combined with digital technology will be a new expression.


About the Artist

Yuki Anai


Yuki Anai is a Japanese artist working with sound, lighting, sensing technology. He was born in Oita, Japan, 1987. Completed Graduate School of Media Design, Keio University. He was worked at teamLab for seven years, engaged on set up art and product team. After graduated he started own company that focused on consulting a space design of lighting.

His inspiration for artworks come from nature’s messages. For example, “A Seashore” express light fluctuation like a surface of a sea. “in the rain” express potential of rain, it works as communication media of us.

He got many prizes of award: “Ah” got a Grand Prize of Asia Digital Award 2012, “ChAir” got Best Award of Smart Illumination Award 2012, teamLab Hanger got a Prize of 14th Japan Media Art Festival(as teamLab), etc.

Opening Ceremony & Gallery Talk

The opening ceremony will be held on 23rd July from 9.30 to 10.00. The venue is 2F 60’s hall. And also planning to a gallery talk by Artist from 10.30.

Talk Event

The talk event with Naoto Kitamura, Olectronica will be held on 10th August from 13.30 to 14.30.  The venue is planning to Compal Hall 3F Multipurpose hall. Admission fee is free but you need to reserve the ticket. Please send a letter to us until 30th July.


We will be planning for a special workshop that collaborates with Fab Lab Oita! You can make a handmade streetlight, it will be exhibit at our exhibition on this summer vacation.
