Spirals

“Spirals” is an artwork that symbolizes the “constant evolution” and “infinite possibilities” that are the essence of life.

The waves depicted in the video reflect the rhythm inherent in all movements in nature, sometimes tranquil swaying, and sometimes sublimated into a powerful spiral as a symbol of challenge and change. This spiral is a universal form of growth and evolution, from the galaxies in the universe to the helical structure of DNA, and alludes to our very existence and the spirit of the challenger who creates the future.

The particles of light express the moment when individual beings come together and create a new form. The particles gather by chance in the flow and become a collection of light, visually speaking to us that change is inevitable and beautiful.

“Spirals” encourages viewers to engage in a dialogue that transcends time and space, and poses questions about the possibilities that lie within us and the future.

This artwork uses light to show the presence of people. When a visitor moves, speaks, or makes sound, the lights change color and brightness.

For example, a loud sound can make a strong flash, and a quiet voice can make a soft glow. The lights react in real-time, so people feel connected to the artwork. Visitors and the artwork become one, sharing the space.

This experience helps people notice how their small actions can change the place. The work shows how we are all connected and how our presence can make a difference.

My Time, Their System

Even though we all live in the same solar system, we are affected differently depending on where we are.

By putting your finger on the sun on the screen, you can be the sun shining on the world. By putting your finger on the white dots on the screen, you can be illuminated by the sun.

As the sun, you can control time, but as the white dots, the sun is in total control of time. By feeling both sides, you can think about the different “systems.”

1 Second

This work expresses the shape of time and the trajectory of each lifetime.

By tapping on the screen for what you feel is one second, a waveform corresponding to that second is drawn on the screen.

Another point I wanted to express was the intersection of the different lines as different people touch the screen, thus creating waveforms. As the lines connect and overlap, it shows how people can share or experience the same moments in time.

The second you think of is always a little different from the second the world thinks of.

The Rule of the World

The themes were ‘clocks’ and ‘systems.’

First, we thought about time and how it might have two meanings. One is the time we feel in ourselves as we spend our days. For example, it passes quickly when we are having fun, and when we are bored, it feels very slow. The other is the “universal time” that functions as a system.

Especially with regard to the second, it is designed to keep the economy and society relevant. But I feel that this has led people to live their lives being bound by time. Therefore, through artwork that allows the visitor to feel each time alternately, I would like to present this work as a chance to think about time and systems.

The first one is “The Rule of the World.” In the exhibition space, the clock ticked away as a symbolic presence. And sometimes it affected the world by ringing a bell.

This work is simple yet unique, linking light and human physicality.

To play music using one’s own movement as energy, rather than playing a musical instrument and making sound, We believe that this is the way it should be, which has been linked to our lives since ancient times. Not only by playing alone but also by creating sessions among visitors who are strangers to each other, new social relationships are built. And this interactive work does not depend on language, This is an ambitious work that allows anyone in the world to communicate with each other using their bodies.

We hope that through this creative work of art, people who experience it will become more creative in their daily lives.

Re-Filter

We add our own “colors” to everything around us, pick them out, and define them. We may not perceive things (“colors” and shapes) in the same way as others do.

Sometimes images are astonishingly beautiful, sometimes horrifyingly distorted, and sometimes bewilderingly uneven, but we all see the same things.

If you have the imagination to peel away the thick outer filter and see things from different angles, you will realize that there is a variety of truth in everything and discover a new world
